Service Award

This award may be given to any person who has helped cruisers, particularly SSCAers, or who has made a significant contribution to the running of the organization. Members are encouraged to nominate possible recipients. This award is also given to retiring Board members who have served their full term.

2020 Winners

Ed Kelly, Angel Louise

Ed served a three-year term on the SSCA Board of Directors--two years as president and one year as vice president.

Mary Verlaque, I Wanda

Mary received an award for volunteering as a proofreader for the Cruisers' Bulletin and for assisting with advocacy efforts for Florida anchoring rights.

Kingsley Ross, Ostinato

Kingsley's efforts as treasurer to streamline the SSCA budget creating a surplus of $60,000 was recognized.

Joan Conover, Growltiger

Joan was recognized for her outstanding, constant communication with people around the world getting updates and crucial information from cruisers and spreading that word to the entire cruising community during COVID-19.

Sally Erdle & Caribbean Compass

Sally and Caribbean Compass were recognized for years of providing Caribbean sailors key country information for passages but particularly for cruising updates provided during COVID-19.
